Approaching the International Agricultural Fair: Sophisticated risk prediction models as a way to protect primary production from losses caused by climate change

The press conference announcing the 90th International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad, organized in partnership with the Republic of Italy, was held at the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade. Speakers at the conference included His Excellency Luca Gori, Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to Serbia, Antonio Ventresca, Director of the Italian Trade Agency in Belgrade, Slobodan Cvetković, CEO of Novi Sad Fair, representatives of the sponsors, and Francesco Masci, Chairman of the Executive Board of DDOR Osiguranje, representing a successful company owned by a large Italian group.

After thanking the organizers of the press conference for the invitation, as well as Novi Sad Fair for another successfully organized event of great importance for agriculture in Serbia, the region, and the whole of Europe, Mr. Masci said:

“I am pleased to speak on behalf of DDOR Osiguranje, one of the largest insurance companies on the Serbian market and part of Unipol Group, a leading player in the European financial sector, which also represents the strong Italian business community in Serbia.” He went on to add: “Needless to say, we are fully committed to the protection of the environment and the fight against climate change, which greatly affects extreme weather conditions and natural disasters. As for protection against loss and Agrotech, as an insurer, we have always protected our clients against such risks and we have realized that traditional analyses are outdated. Therefore, we need to develop new, more sophisticated prediction models which could define new probability scenarios and enable us to predict specific risks and trends. In particular, in collaboration with BioSens Institute in Serbia, we have developed the application DDOR TERRA, while in Italy there is a special company called Leithà, which develops technological solutions, applications and software components through big data analytics.”

DDOR Osiguranje will present its offer intended for all participants of the agri-food supply chain in Hall 1 of the upcoming International Agricultural Fair, which will take place from May 20 to 26, 2023.
