DDOR Insurance participated in the conference “Risks of a New Era and Sustainability: Walking on Thin Ice,” held on June 4th in Belgrade, organized by the BeRiskProtected platform. The gathering brought together 32 speakers and more than 200 participants from the business sector, financial industry, and expert community, with the aim of answering questions about how to manage risks in a time that brings rapid changes, global uncertainty, and interconnections of various types of risks through the exchange of experiences and expert insights.
DDOR was represented by Leo Pandžić, Director of the Directorate for Sustainable Development, who participated on the panel “ESG as a Tool for Risk Management.” Alongside him, the panelists were Marija Mitrović-Bošković, ESG Expert at company A1, and Gorana Radovanović, Manager at Helvetas Serbia/ACT Project. The discussion was moderated by Ivana Višnjić, Junior Partner at Egzakta company. Participants discussed how environmental, social, and governance factors can help companies recognize, assess, and mitigate key business risks — ranging from climate and regulatory to operational and reputational risks. It was emphasized that ESG principles go beyond the framework of regulatory compliance and represent an important tool for making higher-quality business decisions and creating long-term value.

During the conference, the connection between global and local risks was discussed. Geopolitical events, climate change, technological development, and social trends increasingly impact company operations, creating an environment in which different risks intertwine with one another. Climate change, cyber threats, artificial intelligence, and social polarization were identified as the most significant challenges.
It was concluded that successful risk management requires an integrated approach that connects financial stability, sustainability, technological resilience, and employee welfare. In this context, ESG principles represent an important framework for recognizing and managing risks, contributing to greater organizational resilience.
