Trees planted as part of DDOR’s campaign “For a forest in your area”

The area surrounding the lake of Vršac is now greener thanks to as many as 100 trees planted as part of DDOR’s campaign “For a forest in your area”, announced and launched in the run-up to last year’s Belgrade Car Show. The trees were planted in cooperation with the City of Vršac and on this occasion Slobodan Jovanov – member of the City Council responsible for agriculture and environmental protection – and Vladimir Ćapin, director of the Vršac branch office symbolically planted a tree together. In this way, the environment has been improved in six of ten cities selected after thousands of votes were cast from more than 188 cities across Serbia. After Vršac, Subotica, Sremska Mitrovica, Smederevo, Zrenjanin and Novi Sad, March 2023 is reserved for the afforestation of Belgrade, Užice, Novi Pazar and Tutin. Having recognized the importance of this campaign, which goes hand in hand with the long-term strategy of Unipol Group and DDOR Osiguranje as its member, the company has extended the campaign in 2023 to all 12 months of the year in order to provide more funds through eco-policies to make Serbian cities even greener.

After planting the tree, Slobodan Jovanov, member of the City Council responsible for agriculture and environmental protection said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank DDOR Osiguranje for this phenomenal campaign and to call on other companies and entrepreneurs to organize similar events in which the City of Vršac will gladly participate. In the last three years, the City of Vršac has been actively working on the afforestation of the city center. Three years ago we joined forces with the municipal office and afforested the area around the sports fields with deciduous trees, and now we are doing it with DDOR with conifers. Lately, many of our citizens have been coming to the lake for walks, so these trees will further improve the landscape architecture and the ambiance around the lake.“

While speaking about the afforestation campaign, Vladimir Ćapin, director of the Vršac branch office said: “I am proud that Vršac is one of the ten cities where DDOR is carrying out this noble campaign. It makes me particularly happy to know that my fellow citizens recognize and support these activities and that we are working towards a common goal – a better and healthier environment for all. The lake of Vršac is one of the most popular places where both our fellow citizens and visitors enjoy spending their free time, which is why I am particularly pleased that we are planting 100 saplings in this area. DDOR Osiguranje is an integral part of the life of our city, its residents, families and companies. Through the quality of our insurance services and genuine care for our community, we have proven that we are worth the trust they have placed in us for years. We continue to implement the strategy of protecting and improving the environment in which we operate, supported by our Unipol Group, but also to actively raise awareness of important environmental issues. The campaign “For a forest in your area” proves that we can all get involved and if we combine our seemingly insignificant actions, we can contribute to the development of society as a whole. I would like to thank the City of Vršac and its representatives for their support and I believe that we will continue to make our city greener and healthier in the future.”

Before Vršac, 50 trees were planted in Novi Sad in December 2022, in February 2023 78 were planted in Zrenjanin, 21 in Smederevo, 44 in Sremska Mitrovica, and 42 in Subotica. As previously announced, a new cycle of the project “For a forest in your area” began in 2023. In addition to the completion of the campaign launched in 2022, it also includes the allocation of funds from each stipulated eco-policy of DDOR for tree planting in the following year. By arranging eco-Casco or eco-Moja kućica insurance, as well as annual eco-Travel insurance package, our clients contribute directly to the number of new trees planted in cities throughout Serbia.
